| He played in the WHL of the Canadian
Hockey League (comprised of the WHL, OHL, and QMJHL)
for the Prince Albert Raiders and the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
In 1992/1993 while with the Raiders, he was named Molson
Player of the Year. Stan then went on to become a free
agent for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1993/1994 and played
four years of minor pro hockey.
Now retired, Stan has continued on
in the hockey world, only now as a mentor and coach.
With a depth of knowledge that only comes from years
of experience, Stan has developed a system to help goaltenders
of all ages learn to be a great goaltender.
Far too often, goaltenders have mechanical
skills but do not have the knowledge of how to apply
these skills in a game situation. Stan's system has
been applied to all levels of the game; Squirt to Division
I and II College, to the OHL.
Stan's students include: Chris Osgood,
Jason Bacashihua, 1st round pick of the Dallas Stars;
Josh Blackburn, 5th round pick of the Phoenix Coyotes;
Bill Ruggiero, free agent to the Nashville Predators;
Matt Swanson, Ferris State University; Al Montoya, U.
of Michigan; Noah Ruden, U of Michigan; Dom Vicari,
Michigan State University; Greg Barrett, Compuware Ambassadors
of the NAHL.
Stan is also the former goaltending coach at the University of Michigan Wolverines 1999 – 2006. He was an instrumental part of the leadership team that lead the Wolverines to a CCHA Regular season and Playoff Championship year in 2004/2005.
